Church Planting Resources
We believe planting new churches is part of the process Jesus had in mind when He said to go into all the world and make disciples. Starting missional, reproducing churches that will plant other churches is one of the Church’s greatest challenges and most exciting tasks at the beginning of the 21st Century.
According to the Barna Research Institute (2000), one out of three adults (33%) in America is unchurched, a proportion that represents 65-70 million persons. In addition, the “church culture” of the mid-20th century no longer exists – the U.S. is largely an unchurched culture. Dr. Leighton Ford has stated that “North America is now the largest mission field in the English speaking world and the third largest mission field after China and India… we are in a mission situation in our own country.”

(Jesus said) “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Luke 10:2 (NIV)
In the U.S., the Pacific Northwest represents one of the most unchurched areas of the country. Church planting remains one of the most effective tools that God uses to reach the unchurched and accomplish the Great Commission. So Classis Cascades is working on a comprehensive plan to plant new, culturally-relevant missional churches within our region. We are looking for suitably gifted men and women who are interested in exploring God’s call to new church development. If the “pioneer spirit” of church planting appeals to you, our Church Multiplication Team offers evaluations, leadership and skill training, mentoring, and spiritual support.
